Overview

LDC Direct is the manufacturer of a POS terminal that provides storage and printing of long distance calling cards. The LDC terminal helps customers by providing a theft free, inventory free, pre-purchase solution to the sale of preprinted long distance calling cards. The terminal handles decryption of PIN numbers, tracking of sales, reporting, and processing of business rules right at the retailer location.

To facilitate the advancement of this product to support real-time transactions, primarily surrounding prepay cellular and funds transfer, LDC engaged TSI for the software upgrades.

Project Involvement

TSI worked with LDC Direct to rewrite the Boot ROM, Operating System, database programs, and terminal application programs to add support for real-time transaction processing. The process included adding a Berkley compliant TCP/IP networking stack onboard the terminal. The terminal software was significantly enhanced to support real-time transactions, dynamic link libraries, recoverable raw file transfers, FTP and WWW support, multilingual LCD display, and remote software upgrades.

TSI provided the development and documentation team to complete the most radical upgrade of the terminal software ever performed by LDC Direct.

Summary
LDC Direct needed the best embedded engineers to accomplish the projects they had before them. In there interviews with potential service providers, LDC Direct discovered that TSI was the best skilled organization to accomplish their goals.
